Germany opens its 2022 Guest of Honor (GOH) program at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) this year with a 400 sqm booth where 34 German publishers will showcase their titles. Some highlights at the stand include the Guest of Honor Stage, a VR installation on Goethe's Faust and beacons where visitors can engage in creative activity.
Ten German authors are being invited to participate in Germany’s cultural program as Guest of Honor at ADIBF. Confirmed thus far are Moritz Rinke, Olga Grjasnowa, and Judith Schalansky who will be in discussion with counterparts from the Arab Region.
The cultural program will be focusing on these main topics: Futurelab, Inspiration, Soccer, Translation and (Un)certainties. Artists from Labor Ateliergemeinschaft, an association of freelance designers and illustrators in Frankfurt, will also enliven the program. These include Anke Kuhl, Kirstin Fabinski and Jörg Mühle who will hold workshops for Children and young adults, each morning of the fair from 10-12 am.
As a complement to the ADIBF trade program, Germany will also hold its own trade program at the German stand, this one aimed at addressing topics relevant to the Arab market and intending to encourage greater exchange through the matchmaking of international publishers with potential business partners in the Arab world.
Twenty or more publishers and authors will participate, including such names as Constanze Neumann (Aufbau Verlag), Jo Lendle (Hanser), and Nadja Kneissler (Delius Klasing). The program will be discussing topics like educational publishing, sustainability in publishing, digitization etc..
